  • Working collaboratively with staff to co-construct lesson plans and assignments

  • Co-ordinating the implementation of curriculum, including evaluation strategies, to meet the requirements of Ministry guidelines and Board policies.

  • Planned, designed and implemented Physical Education and Health units using differentiated instruction for multiple grade levels, both independently and as part of a team, in accordance with current Peel District School Board and Ministry of Education assessment and evaluation practices.

  • Taught Family Studies courses from grade 9 to 12, specializing in Food and Nutrition, Fashion and Creative Expression and Families and Individuals Living in Diverse Societies

Contribution to a Learning Community

 

Community Culture and Caring Committee, 2010-Present

  • Co-ordinated and planned events for our local feeder school students to participate in physical activity both at the feeder schools and at Louise Arbour Secondary School.

  • Organized Louise Arbour’s first ever Volunteer Fair, designed to help reach our school goal of having all of our students obtain their forty hours of volunteer service by grade eleven.  Different community organizations were given the opportunity to present potential volunteer opportunities to students.

 

Wellness Committee, 2011-2015

  • Collaborated with Peel Health and other community organizations to host a Wellness Week and other wellness activities at Louise Arbour during the school year.

 

Climate for Learning and Working Committee, 2008-2009

  • Planned and organized an extra-curricular carousel, in collaboration with all teachers who lead clubs, teams and school organizations, to help increase student awareness about opportunities for involvement in life at T.L.Kennedy Secondary School.  This carousel was based on the results of a student survey regarding a lack of awareness about opportunities for involvement.

 

Transition from Grade 8 to Grade 9 Committee, 2005-2008

  • Collaborated with secondary and elementary school teachers to develop strategies to ease the transition for students from grade 8 to grade 9.  This was an activity that involved grade 8 students from our feeder schools attending T.L. Kennedy, following a timetable and attending classes, resulted from our efforts.

 

Assessment and Evaluation Committee, 2002-2006

  • Worked collaboratively with teachers from all departments in the school to discuss the implementation of Policy 14 and develop assessment and evaluation strategies that would best meet the needs of our students.

  • Served as a staff sponsor for the student run HIV/AIDS assembly involving the Peel HIV/AIDS Network (PHAN)

  • Co-hosted the Iftar, a celebration toward the end of Ramadan, for parents, students and community members in the T.L. Kennedy community
